Adoption Fees
Adoption fees at the APCSM range from $20 to $600. These fees reflect various factors such as species, age, and medical or behavioral needs of the animal.
-
Supporting our Nonprofit
The APCSM is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that receives no state or federal funding. We rely on these adoption fees to continue our vital work of caring for animals.
-
Comprehensive Care
Every animal adopted from the APCSM undergoes a thorough vetting process. This includes a complete medical exam, up-to-date vaccinations, spaying/neutering, heartworm testing, and any necessary medical treatments or surgeries.
-
You might wonder, "Why charge an adoption fee?" These fees are crucial for us to sustain our operations and provide top-notch care for every animal. While younger, healthier animals may incur veterinary costs ranging from $300 to $600, older or less healthy animals can require $500 to $1,500 or more in medical expenses. These costs often include rehabilitation, or significant surgeries, or extended foster care, making adoption fees essential to our ability to help every animal in need.
-
Adoption fees for younger, healthier animals help offset the higher costs associated with older, injured, or sick animals. By supporting these fees, you contribute to the welfare of ALL animals under our care, giving them a chance for a better life.
By choosing to adopt from the APCSM, you’re not only welcoming a new pet into your home but also supporting a mission dedicated to the welfare of homeless animals in our community.
