Frequently Asked Questions

  • Adopting is easy! Please read our adoption process.

  • Please visit our available animals page to see dogs, cats, and other small animals in need of forever homes!

  • If you need to surrender your animal to the APCSM, please click here.

  • Our cat lounge, cat adoption room, and smalls room are open to the public every Thursday from 1-4 PM. The dog room remains closed to the public during open hours to minimize kennel stress.

  • The APCSM operates by appointment for adoption and surrender. We have found scheduling adoption appointments has several benefits including:

Reduced stress: The decreased amount of visitors walking through the facility has increased the quality of life for our animals, especially our population of harder-to-place animals. The comfort of our animals is top priority and we strive to reduce kennel stress at all costs.

Better matchmaking: Our adoption staff has been able to make thoughtful matches for animals by speaking with potential adopters in advance about their lifestyle, including what they are hoping for in a pet while considering an animal’s medical and behavioral needs.

Increased adoption rates: In addition to more adoptions, we’ve seen a decrease in return rates as well. That’s a win-win!

  • There are so many ways to help shelter animals! The APCSM does not receive any state or federal funding, and relies solely on the generosity of our community. Visit our Donation Page to see how you can make an impact on animals in need.

  • We accept donations at the shelter seven days a week between 9am-6pm. All donations can be left by the front doors of the building.

If you would prefer to come in the building when dropping off donations, please visit us during open hours on Thursdays from 1-4pm.
